About the poets
Susan Shaw Sailer is a poet based in Morgantown, WV, and a member of Pittsburgh Pathwork. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Washington and an MFA in poetry from New England College, and taught in the English Department at West Virginia University. Her books include On the Doorstep (2025), The Distance Beyond Sight (2020), The God of Roundabouts (2016), and Ship of Light (2013), along with the chapbooks Coal and Bulletins from a War Zone. She is part of the “Madwomen in the Attic” writing group at Carlow University in Pittsburgh.
Orion Asa is a queer Black poet and Navy veteran from New Castle, PA, now rooted in Pittsburgh’s East End. After decades in what he calls a “mental prison,” he found healing through meditation, therapy, and a return to poetry after 30 years. His work confronts oppression, reimagines humanity, and reflects his belief that the greatest human act is giving and receiving love. Orion writes to help others embrace authenticity and pursue their dreams. He also founded A.Q.U.A. (African diaspora, Queer, Under-resourced Artist).
Kay Comini is a Pathwork Helper and a Pittsburgh poet. She is a member of the Madwomen in the Attic writing group and the Ass in the Chair writers’ collective. Kay graduated University of Pittsburgh with a BA concentration in writing. She publishes two or three poems a year in journals and anthologies. Her Book, Asking the Voodoo Queen was published in 2021 by Madbooks, Carlow University.
Billy Weil is a Pathwork Helper and the author of Driving Lessons: Trials on the Path to the True Self (Pathwork Press), a collection of 64 moving stories and insights that illuminate the challenges, humor, and grace of the journey toward greater self-awareness.
